This mid-century Danish cabinet is extraordinary, a tall and gorgeous example of the quality and precision of Danish cabinetmakers in the 1950s, just an exquisite example of authentic Danish craftsmanship. Although it is unmarked by its maker (“Made in Denmark” only) the hallmarks of the highest Danish cabinetmaker quality and skill are shown.
The cabinet is one piece. The sides, front and interior doors of this mid-century Danish cabinet are beautifully book-matched. The edges of the cabinet (chamfers) between the step back hutch and the bottom drawers are sculpturally carved. The cabinetmaker’s pencil lines can be seen on the back. One caned door closes with the original key, the other is anchored at the top and bottom, on the inside edge, with hardware marked “Sweden”. The top contains 2 side-by-side spaces for 5 adjustable shelves on “invisible rod” hardware. The bottom provides storage in 6 drawers, each with long round teak handles.
This storage piece is very versatile. It was lovingly cared for by its one, original owner from whom it was sourced.
